Condoms prevent HIV infection if they are used proper and effective way. There are many ways by which you can avoid the risk of getting infected with HIV. However, we will have to learn first that what is HIV and how it leads to develop AIDS. HIV is a virus that causes to develop AIDS. The virus does not develop less period of time; on the other hand it takes several years to be developed in the body. HIV is described as Human Deficiency syndrome. Use of condom

Condom is one of the best options that can help you to prevent the transmission of HIV. They not only prevent the HIV but also help to avoid the infection of sexually transmitted diseases. Though it is true that they are not hundred percent safe, but by using them properly you can avoid the infection. In some of the cases the condom can slip out, but it happens because of the wrong handling of the condoms. A study carried out by some laboratories showed that the use of latex condom reduces the risk of the transmission of HIV. Condoms can be used for avoiding the unwanted pregnancy. You would be protected from the vaginal fluids by using condom. These fluids can transmit the HIV infection.

Follow safe sex strategies

For avoiding the HIV transmission you should follow safe sex strategies such as using condom while having sex with your sex partner. Condom becomes the obstacle between the vaginal fluids and penis. It prevents these fluids to come into the contact with the penis and thus reduces the chances of getting infected with HIV. The second strategy is to know the sex history of your sex partner. If you know the medical status of your partner, you can know about the infections that he/she possesses. If he/she is not infected with any diseases particularly HIV and STDs then you can enjoy sex with them. However, still you should use condom.

Do not use dirty or reused needles

Thos who are addicted with drugs can use the dirty needles. Using dirty needle or reused needles can transmit the HIV if infected person has used those needles before. Drugs addiction may lead you to the risky behavior. You should use clean and new needles. They can avoid the risk of HIV infection.

Test for HIV

If you think that you may be infected with HIV, do not ignore it. You should get tested for that reason. There is vast possibility that you may transmit the infection without even being aware of it. There are certain advantages of getting tested for HIV. You can know about your medical status, if you are HIV positive then your physician can decide the treatment plan. By doing so you can control the infection and further consequences.
