Does Condom Prevent AIDS

Many people have a doubt in their minds that does condom prevent AIDS? The answer is yes but there are some restrictions that should be followed while having sex. Condom not only prevents HIV transmission but is also useful for avoiding the infection of STDs (sexually transmitted diseases). However, it should be used properly so that it can reduce the chances of getting infected with HIV and other STDs such as, genital warts, chlamydia, genital herpes gonorrhea, and hepatitis B, and syphilis. These STDs can spread out through Vaginal, anal or oral sex. The prefect way to avoid the risk of transmission of these diseases is not to have sex with multiple partners. The second way is to have a sex with a partner who is not involved with others in sexual intercourse (monogamy). Condoms are not hundred percent safe but if you use them in proper way they decreases the risk of transmission of such diseases like HIV and others.

In United States there are almost two-thirds of people who are infected with the HIV/AIDS because of the sexual intercourse with infected partner. Experts in the United States believe that the infection of HIV could have shunned by using condoms.

There are other benefits of condom along with avoiding HIV infection they are given below

Means of birth control

Condoms are the means of birth control. Many people think that the other forms of birth control like the, diaphragm, IUD, cervical cap or pill will protect them from the diseases. However, it is not true. Though a person is using these forms, the use of condom will be beneficial for him/her for avoiding the risk of getting infected with HIV or other sexually transmitted diseases. The reason is that there is no cure for HIV/AIDS and it is a fatal disease. So it is essential to get protected from the diseases. A condom is particularly important when an uninfected pregnant woman is involved with sex as it also can avoid the chances of getting infected with STDs to the child.

Prevent HIV and STD infection

Sexual relationship with infected partner is the main cause of getting infected with HIV. Though condom is not hundred percent safe, but it helps to reduce the chances of getting infected with HIV. Condoms should be used in proper and effective way for avoiding the infection. The virus of HIV can be transmitted through the bodily fluids such as semen, contaminated blood, vaginal fluids and the other fluids. It is essential to use condom during sex as a person can comes in the contact with such fluids while having sex. Moreover, the condom can be helpful for avoiding the infection of STDs such as Trichomoniasis and Gonorrhea, Chlamydia. These STDs can be spread out through infected vaginal fluids or semen. It provides protection against genital herpes, cancroids and syphilis that are transmitted through mucosal surfaces or infected skin.

Decrease the risk of cervical cancer and HPV

In America there are more than three million women who are newly infected with HPV per year. HPV is more often responsible for all the cases of cervical cancer. It is estimated that fifty-one thousand people have cervical cancer. The researches that are done by experts in America have shown that those who have used condoms while having sex, the possibility of being infected with HIV or STDs is less than those who have not used condoms. It is also seen that people who had used condoms continuously, reduced the risk of being infected with HPV penile infection.

Facts about condoms

The researches that are carried out by some of the laboratories have shown that using latex condom the risk of getting infected with HIV/AIDS can be reduced effectively. It has been seen that condoms are effective to avoid the risk of getting infected with HIV and other STDs. There are some splits or breakages happened, but it is only due to the wrong use of condoms or not following the proper method of handling the condom.

Does condom prevent AIDS? The answer is yes but it is not hundred percent safe if not used properly. However, it does not mean that you should not use condom.
