HIV in India StatisticsThere were 5.6 million people living with HIV in India. It was estimated by UNAIDS in the year 2006. The estimations show that there were more HIV infected people in India other than any country in the world. The state has highest percent of HIV prevalence among the female sex workers. Nagaland - Nagaland is the small state. It is a northwestern state where injecting drug use has been the main cause of spread of HIV. HIV prevalence in this state in 2007 was 8.34%. However it is decreased to 1.91 in 2007.
