How Does HIV Spread Through Vaginal Intercourse?

HIV results in damaging the immune system. It weakens the immune cells badly. It leads infected people to develop AIDS. HIV replicates itself in order to destroy the CD4 cells. It hides in these cells and weakens the cells. Once it overcomes these cells the person gets infected and it leads to AIDS. It attacks on CD4 cells that resists the infections and diseases and keeps the body healthy. HIV can be transmitted by various ways. One of them is vaginal sex. Also, it spreads through some body fluids that contain white blood cells.

Let us see that how HIV spread out through vagina or vaginal sex

Vaginal sex or having sexual intercourse with infected partner

HIV exists in the sexual fluids of an infected person. In men it is found in semen fluids that come out from penis before and during sex. In woman it is found in vaginal fluids that are formed for keeping the vagina clean and make the intercourse process easier. If an infected man has vaginal intercourse without any precaution i.e. without condom then HIV transmits in the woman’s body through the cervix, lining of the vagina and womb. The risk of getting infected by HIV increases if a woman has any cuts or sour around the vagina. It makes easier for virus to enter in bloodstream. It may happen that a woman does not know about such sore or cuts around vagina because they could be very small or not visible.

If a woman infected with HIV engages in sexual intercourse with a man without condom, then HIV gets transferred the man’s body. The sour patches or cuts help the virus to get into a man, body. This virus gets into the body through his urethra or inside of his foreskin. Also, if an infected man or woman gets in contact with blood of each other the virus can enter into the body. i.e. there could be blood in the vagina if vaginal intercourse happens during her period. Some sexual transmitted diseases like gonorrhea and herpes can raise the risk of HIV transmission.

Anal sexReceptive anal sex performs a higher risk of HIV transmission rather than receptive vaginal intercourse. The lining of anus is more fragile than the lining of vagina. So it can be damaged easily during sex. If a person comes in the contact with blood during sex he/she can be got infected. If a man holds top position with a woman or man who is already infected with HIV then he too can be infected.

Oral sexOral sex caries out small risk of getting infected by HIV. If a person performs oral sex with other man or woman and if he/she gets cuts, blooding gums or ulcers in their mouth the chances of getting infected are possible as a virus can enter in blood easily through these ways. It is possible with a man if he performs the same action with infected woman. Though there are rare changes of getting infected through saliva but still you should protect yourself from that.
