There is a certain process of the development of AIDS from the HIV infection. We can divide it into four stages that are known to be the stages of HIV infection. The stages involve Acute or primary stage, asymptomatic stage, symptomatic stage, and AIDS. When an individual is in the third stage that is symptomatic, the opportunistic infections assault on the body. The reason behind it is that the immune system is totally damaged by the HIV. The weakened immune system can not resist these infections. Finally, the body succumbs to AIDS. Nevertheless, it can be possible to prevent AIDS.

Self-discipline and safe sex

Self discipline or abstinence from sex is the best way to prevent the AIDS. If you are not able to do that or follow that then you can use the safe sex policies i.e. protected sex (using condom). It is essential to use condom while having sex. However, condoms are not hundred percent safe if not used in proper way. Another important thing is you should know the medical history of your partner. If you want to be active in sex then keep in mind you should not indulge in sex with more than one partner. The chances of getting infected with HIV and STDs are decreased by using condom. According to the study regarding the condoms, latex condoms are best for use.

Do not share the needles

Drugs addiction can be dangerous as it deteriorates your decision power. It also leads you to the risky behavior i.e. transmission of HIV. If an individual is drug addicted then he/she should use the clean needles. He/she should avoid the use of dirty needles or used needles as they can transmit HIV infection.

HIV testing

You should get tested with HIV as it can avoid the transmission of HIV unknowingly. The other benefits of getting tested are if you are HIV positive then with the help of your physician you can decide the treatment plan for you. It will control the consequences of HIV infection. If a pregnant woman is HIV positive then she can avoid the infection to her child by following the treatments. It will help those who are infected with HIV and lead them to live a safe life.
